Hailing from Nagoya, Japan and comprising duo Yukiya Kato and Maiko Matsuo, Menow specialise in dreamlike experimental acid folk which soothes and soars in equal measure.
At times reminiscent of the wistful Bay Area fog pop stylings of the likes of Tony Jay and April Magazine (see the stunning higashi no oka de), the band’s playfully enchanting take on indie pop is loaded with melodic wonder and shimmering atmospherics.
Tantalisingly abstract yet somehow vividly real, the captivating sounds of Menow are an essential listen for anyone partial to the gentle power of the DIY independent underground.
